ANSWERS

Who is the course library aimed at?

All our e learning is aimed at bankers and lawyers who need to understand the terms of loan documentation. The course library is particularly suited to those who cannot commit to a study course, or who do not need to study all the topics which a study course covers. It is also useful for those who would like quick reminders of topics as and when they arise in their day to day activities

What is in the library?

The library is divided into categories and subcategories. Within each subcategory there is a series of short, self contained presentations. Each presentation (or nugget) explains key aspects of a particular topic and includes a quiz to test understanding

How do I open a presentation?

The presentations (or nuggets) are in the course library. If you go to the library, you will find the library is divided into sections with different topics (eg loan agreement). Within each topic, the nuggets are grouped in categories (eg Events of Default). In each of the categories you will find a list of the nuggets in that category, and a brief description of each of the nuggets. From here, you can access the nugget you are interested in, by clicking on its description. That will open up a window, and, very soon, the first slide of the nugget will appear in that window. Once the video has loaded, you will need to click the play button to start the video (have your headphones or speakers turned on and ready). You will find the play and pause buttons for the nugget at the bottom of the window.

What materials are available in the course library?

Each nugget in the course library is available both as a video with sound, which can be listened to on your computer, and also as text, which you can print off and read. Many of the nuggets also have reference material referred to in the nugget and which can be printed off. For example, the nugget on the cross default clause will refer to the text of a cross default clause, which will also be provided.

Can I print off materials?

Yes. If you like to follow the text while you listen to the presentation, (or instead of listening to the presentation) you can print the text. From the course library, you will need to open up the nugget you are interested in. Above the window where the video is playing, you will see a list of attachments. These attachments consist of the text of the nugget and a copy of any materials referred to in the nugget. You can print those attachments from the link

Will I need to purchase additional books?

The nuggets in the course library are self contained and do not require the purchase of additional books. In some cases, suggestions for further reading may be made, but these are optional.

How much time will I need?

You may decide for yourself how much or little to study. As a guide, each nugget takes no longer than 10 minutes, and generally, if you choose to do any background reading suggested for the nugget, it ought to take around half an hour.

Who will deal with my questions?

If you have questions on the content of any nugget, or the quizzes, you can pass these questions to us using the contact form. Your questions will either be answered by Sue Wright or by the practitioner responsible for the topic concerned. See the home page for the study course on the relevant topic for further information of the practitioner responsible

What is the difference between the study course and the course library?

The course library consists of a series of short videos (or nuggets) each relating to a separate finance related topic. With these, you can choose which topic is of particular interest to you and, when you have an available time slot, you can listen to your chosen nugget, print off and review the text of the nugget and, if you like, look at any suggested background reading. The nugget should take no longer than 10 minutes to listen to, and, at the end, you can test your understanding by doing the quiz. The course library therefore is a very flexible method of study for those who either

  • do not have the time available to take part in a study course or
  • only need to study some of the topics covered, perhaps because of the nature of their work or because they are familiar with most of the topics but have a few gaps in their knowledge

The study course, on the other hand, consists of a structured programme, taking participants through the subject on a formal, weekly basis. Participants will be given a programme of nuggets to study, and an assignment to complete, as well as having the opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues with their tutor and other delegates. Their progress will be monitored by the tutor, and they will be awarded a certificate at the end of the couse if it is successfully completed.

Will I get feedback?

Each nugget includes a quiz which, when completed, will be scored and correct answers supplied on request.

How do I start?

Once you have received your user name and password, turn your speakers or headphones on, go to the course library, choose your nugget, and, once it starts to play, sit back and listen. If you would like to follow the text of the nugget while it plays, you can print out the text of the nugget and any referenced material from the links above the window where the nugget is playing
